In un futuro "alternativo", la Germania, vincitrice della Seconda Guerra Mondiale, ha trasformato la Gran Bretagna in un Paese nazista. "V", un misterioso rivoluzionario deciso a sconfiggere la dittatura con atti di terrorismo estremo, rapisce la giovane Evey per reclutarla per la sua causa. La ragazza, quando arriva a scoprire il passato del ribelle mascherato, decide di aderire alla sua causa e di portare avanti con lui la lotta per la libertà...
